Arbor Day Wine Tasting
2007-3-21

Greetings earthlings,

INVITE BELOW, but first...

Thanks to everyone that made our Arbor Day celebration at
Julie's Tea Garden a round success. 'Twas a warm and beautiful
evening of drinking with warm and beautiful people. Very glad
to see some new faces appearing (Basil, Jackie, Ross, Laura,
John, Nancy). Really, you people should get out more often.

As for the wine, the blind tasting of oddball varietals was
subverted by vigorous socializing. Not much to report in
the way of tasting notes or even labels, as the ice chest full
of empty bottles was unceremoniously tossed in the recycling bin.
I personally enjoyed the berry, leather and earthy goodness
of the C'erasuola di Vittoria (a Sicilian mix of Nero D'Avola
and Frappato) but the other offerings escape me.

Hats off to Julie's for a lovely locale and hospitable service.
And hats off to Justin & Donna for hosting the after party and
helping ensure that no bottle went unturned.

And now for something completely different...

NEXT THURSDAY, MAY 31 is a FULL MOON.

We'll be honoring the occassion with another enological tasting
expedition at Ronnie's funky sugar shack over in the 5th Avenue
warehouses starting at 6:00 PM.

It'll be California Pinot Noir going tête-a-tête with
French Burgundy. C'est fou!

Batting for Team France will be our host, Ronnie, along with
Chuck "Raging Bull" Hernandez, and yours truly, The Satyrical One.
Leading Team California will be his eminence, Lord Chestnut.
Saddle up those taste buds and come on down for the ride.

As usual, bring more wine, food, cash, flowers, contraband,
good humor, or moving conversation. If in doubt about wine,
go to bat for Team California. Or bestow more bread, cheese,
fruit, roast lamb, or happiness upon us. Bless you all and
thanks for playing.
